Impact from Technology. A Small Note from Philosophy of Technology and Engineers of Happy Land

Two last book i have read is about technology. First, the title is Philosophy of Technology written by Francis Lim and Engineers of Happy Land. I will review the book's contents.

Philosophy of Technology tell how correlation between technology and social. From the beginning of the world, technology already exists alongside with human. Human use technology for live in this world. The technology like slippers for walk, knife for peeled a mango, and other. That's true we can tell technology as tool.

Because technology is tool, partiality from technology back to who use technology. With this position technology can use for something progressive or useless. One of the example is smartphone. If we use it for discussion about important topic about people, we can claim that use technology for something progressive. Otherwise, if we use it to talk about something harm, technology partiality is negative.

Technology role is replace from human doing activity everyday. But technology also can create new culture in live. For example is selfie, when smartphone with camera in front of released, people can capture self picture with theirs camera in smartphone.

Rudolf Mrazek in Engineers of Happy Land writes development of technology in Hindia Belanda a few years ago. Technology that goes into Hindia Belanda had an effect on people's lives. On of them is developing roadway. Roadway construction be emphatic who is oppressing and oppressed. Who colonial and indigenous. Only colonial and priyayi can access roadway. Because in those days the only vehicles such as horse-drawn carriages are allowed through the streets. And who can access the vehicle as it was only the colonies and priyayi. Indigenous People only in charge of watering the roads to keep maintained. Other cases on the construction of the Tram in the Indies. Same as before only specific class can access Tram.

The above presentation is an example of where technology can be a tool to do colonization. Indies with technology policy try to build facilities for the sake of technology they exploit the wealth of the Nusantara.

In Indonesia goverment today, i have seen Presiden Jokowi is trying to boost the creative industries in the field of technology. When he visit to Silicon Valley, Jokowi invites large technology companies like Facebook and Google to work together to advance the technology of Indonesia. One of the real impact of this Jokowi visit one of Google's plan to help Indonesia gave birth to a new mobile programmer for several years.

Industry was also affected is Startup. I believe the next few years will Gojek applications such as rampant in some areas of Indonesia. Although now scattered in several major cities. But we can not get stuck on a little or a lot, but who will benefit from the technology industry symptoms? Are people in remote areas were able to use it? So far I still rate it only benefits the middle class only.[]
